The self proclaimed Dutch insurance company for all insurances. It’s founding took place in the year 2000 with the merging of two existing companies. Only 8 years later the company was nationalized by the Dutch government to prevent it from going belly under during the financial crisis in 2008. It wasn’t until 2016 before the company went public again.

Being that the company portrays itself as the Dutch insurance company for all insurances, there really isn’t much to say about which direction it’s going. It will probably continue to expand wherever possible and absorb smaller insurance companies as a way to do so. Maybe in the future the company might outgrow it’s country and try to expand globally.

The world of insurance is a cutthroat one with little in the way to expand or change. Competition will therefore always be a pressing matter for it’s leadership.

The company pays a dividend twice a year. A reliable source of income during relative prosperous times, but as seen back in 2008, the sector is highly susceptible to lack of liquidity during bad times. Something to keep in mind.
