Barrick Gold Corp.

Last edit: 2024-06-23

There was once a oil and gas company in Canada, until there was a time where oil and gas companies struggled to stay afloat. The company then became a gold mining company named Barrick Gold Corp. Seems like a logical solution.

As the name suggest, gold mining is the core business here. This doesn’t mean that gold it the only metal getting mined. Due to an increase in demand and corresponding increase in price, the company now also mines for copper.

What is a gold miner? A liar next to a hole in the ground. Now there are a lot of liars in the world and plenty of holes to dig, but as long as Barrick manages to keep finding gold or copper veins they should be fine.

The company pays a quarterly dividend, but due to the nature of the business the actual paid amount will vary based on how well the market did that year and how much ore they managed to mine compared to the operating costs. Also the 25% tax does cut in your returns.
